Bespoke Private Residence
This contemporary replacement dwelling sits on the seafront in Herne Bay in Kent and enjoys spectacular sea views. The owners took a risk in deciding that the forms of the building would suit the construction of the new building material BecoWallform - ie interlocking polystyrene blocks filled with concrete.
I was an RIBA Part 2 Architectural Assistant while working on this project and enjoyed working on the unusual details and creating the contemporary interiors. The render and zinc external walls coupled with the contemporary elevations create a striking building which was very interesting to detail. Planning had been recieved when I begun work on the building but I enjoyed choosing the zinc cladding system and drawing the wall and window details.
I moved teams within the office before the building was complete but I watched the progress of this building with enthusiasm and think the finished building looks great - thanks to a team of dedicated construction workers and design professionals.
